How to Augment Your Brick and Mortar with Digital Assets

Assets are things of value that generate wealth for you over time. Rental property is an asset; book that generates royalties is an asset; and now, you can translate any product, service, or knowledge into a digital asset.

Even if you are a physical business, you can augment it with digital assets. Because digital assets allow you to increase your reach and your revenue.

Let’s say, you’re a plant shop, for example. You sell plants, tools, pots, soil, seedlings, etc in order to promote responsible consumption and production, and sustainable cities. So how do you translate that into a suite of digital assets?

  1. Downloads:

You can create Sustainable Home Garden Guide; Checklist, Cheat Sheets, podcast tips, etc.

  1. Membership:

You can charge a subscription fee for regular deliveries of plant food for a discounted rate; member only access to insider tools and trainers, or membership perks like ‘garden doctor’ at home checkups. Memberships are great for people on a journey without a clear end goal.

  1. Online Program:

You can create an online program that walks your community through how to plant their own home garden: “Grocery Owned to Garden Fed 12 weeks or less.” Programs are ideal for one-off experiences with a clear end result.

Each of these assets is designed to serve your audience wherever they are in the journey, and you are able to provide value at whatever level they can afford. And assets allow you to generate revenue in a manner that is independent of the number of hours you work.

The three main digital assets we teach inside the SEAD Accelerator are digital downloads, membership platforms, and online programs.
